The ancient Greek world: Then and now (Classics and Ancient History)
How can we reach new audiences and unravel stereotypes? Ancient Greek society has fascinated people around the world, but it has often been misrepresented. Professor Michael Scott’s research has challenged the public’s perception of the Ancient Greek world. His new approach has re-evaluated the experience of ancient Greek society in the Mediterranean, as well as the effect of its cities and culture on the modern age. Through various TV series, social media platforms and other public engagement events, Professor Scott has brought this insight to millions of people.
Audiences of more than 10 million globally have benefited from Professor Scott’s research through television documentaries, including a season of BBC4 documentaries about Ancient Greece. His approach to understanding landscapes and locations has led to pioneering approaches to representing spaces from Ancient Greece digitally. The formats he helped develop, especially for digital representation, have since been used in other television programmes and interactive museum installations. https://warwick.ac.uk/research/impact/arts/classics/ancient-greek-world
