Strategic Research Areas

One of the critical objectives to attain the aim of promoting research for impact at Stellenbosch University is the establishment of interdisciplinary research focus areas. The University is refocusing its thinking and strategic planning on ways to hone the strengths of the institution to becoming a leading 21st-century university, by simultaneously addressing some of the pressing needs of South Africa, as well as delivering on the challenges brought by, inter alia, the expanding knowledge economy and the effects of globalisation.

The “Materials and Technologies” summer school will be held from July 21 to August 4th, 2019. The summer school will be devoted to materials science and materials technologies.

Third year undergraduate students, as well as graduate students interested in materials science, inorganic, and physical chemistry can participate in the program.

NUST MISIS opens English-taught postgraduate programmes

In 2019, NUST MISIS for the first time opens enrollment on English-taught postgraduate programmes in two areas: “Physics and Astronomy” and “Materials Technology”. Postgraduate students will have the opportunity to work as part of international research groups on the basis of modern world-class laboratories and to undergo internships at leading universities in Europe and in the US.
