Named after the beautiful city of Chiang Mai in which it is located, Chiang Mai University was the first higher education institution to be established in northern Thailand.

The university opened in 1964 with three faculties that offered programmes in Science, Social Sciences, and Humanities. Today, Chiang Mai offers almost 100 undergraduate and about 160 postgraduate courses in seventeen faculties to over twenty-five thousand students.

Additionally, two of its international undergraduate programmes and 18 at Masters and Doctoral level spanning Social Sciences, Health Sciences, and Science and Technology are taught in English.

The university is organised across four campuses: Suan Sak, which is 5km away from the city centre; Suan Dok whose name translates as Garden of Flowers; Mae Hea, located south of the city and, Sri Bua Baan, the university’s most southerly campus.

It also boasts three interdisciplinary Research Institutes with other facilities that include no less than 19 libraries. The main Central Library was built at the same time as the university itself and offers books, journals and multimedia resources in several different languages.

Since 1998, the university has also been home to an Art Museum, which hosts exhibitions by renowned contemporary Thai artists, international collections, and screenings of foreign films, as well as acting as a space for students to exhibit their own work.

Chiang Mai students can also sign-up to join a number of recreational and sports clubs that offer instruction in a number of traditional Thai sports such as Thai boxing (Muay Thai), sword and pole fighting, as well as Thai dancing.

Students seeking accommodation are directed towards the university’s ‘International Hostel’, which offers fully furnished, air conditioned rooms and suites for short and long term visitors. The hostel is priced affordably and prices include breakfast.

Fellowship in the Society of Fellows in the Humanities (Ref.: 533914) The Society seeks outstanding applicants (appointed at the rank of Research Assistant Professor), with a flexible commencement date between June and August 2026 for a period of three years. The Society aims to establish a vibrant research community where Fellows interact with each other and other members of the Faculty.  Fellows will be expected to teach two courses during the term of their appointment and are required to submit a brief annual summary of their activities and accomplishments. The University of Hong Kong is an English-medium university. A host department within the Faculty of Arts will be selected on the basis of a Fellow’s proposed area of research. Applicants must have a PhD conferred after January 1, 2024, but not later than June 30, 2026. They will not be currently employed in tenure-track positions. A highly competitive package including medical benefits, annual leave, and conference and research support will be offered to the successful applicants. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. Nazarbayev University’s Center for Preparatory Studies (CPS) is currently seeking qualified Teachers for our language courses: EAP or academic skills. CPS operates a Foundation Year Program (NUFYP) which emphasizes academic English, mathematics, and a “Leadership” course to prepare students for Nazarbayev University’s undergraduate schools. The minimum English entry level into NUFYP is an overall IELTS of 5.5; all classes are taught in English. Job Description As a member of the academic teaching team of CPS, a Senior Teaching Fellow is responsible for teaching courses, leading a team of teaching fellows, and overseeing the curricula and assessments of subject courses under the direction of the Head of Discipline and General Director. The STF will report to the relevant Head of Discipline. The STF is employed for 40-hours per week and shall comply with the internal teaching and work schedule instituted by CPS and by the requirements established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Qualifications Teaching and Learning support: To uphold NU principles of academic integrity and to provide guidance to colleagues and students on embedding NU Graduate Attributes in curricular and co-curricular activities. To strive for excellence in teaching both as a member and leader of a team of teaching fellows following the regulations and policies of NU and CPS. To advise and develop curriculum in conjunction with CPS leadership. To assist with designing, delivering, and marking assessments. Administration and other activities: To take administrative and academic responsibility for a team of teaching fellows—providing mentoring leadership; ensuring their classes are well prepared and delivered as scheduled; seeing that assessments are marked and attendance recorded. To assist the management team in the operations of CPS and to facilitate communications within CPS and their team. To complete academic administration tasks (e.g., attendance data, compiling student progress reports, student surveys). To attend CPS meetings and to participate, as required, in other committee and working groups in CPS, NU Schools, and the University.
