Named after the beautiful city of Chiang Mai in which it is located, Chiang Mai University was the first higher education institution to be established in northern Thailand.

The university opened in 1964 with three faculties that offered programmes in Science, Social Sciences, and Humanities. Today, Chiang Mai offers almost 100 undergraduate and about 160 postgraduate courses in seventeen faculties to over twenty-five thousand students.

Additionally, two of its international undergraduate programmes and 18 at Masters and Doctoral level spanning Social Sciences, Health Sciences, and Science and Technology are taught in English.

The university is organised across four campuses: Suan Sak, which is 5km away from the city centre; Suan Dok whose name translates as Garden of Flowers; Mae Hea, located south of the city and, Sri Bua Baan, the university’s most southerly campus.

It also boasts three interdisciplinary Research Institutes with other facilities that include no less than 19 libraries. The main Central Library was built at the same time as the university itself and offers books, journals and multimedia resources in several different languages.

Since 1998, the university has also been home to an Art Museum, which hosts exhibitions by renowned contemporary Thai artists, international collections, and screenings of foreign films, as well as acting as a space for students to exhibit their own work.

Chiang Mai students can also sign-up to join a number of recreational and sports clubs that offer instruction in a number of traditional Thai sports such as Thai boxing (Muay Thai), sword and pole fighting, as well as Thai dancing.

Students seeking accommodation are directed towards the university’s ‘International Hostel’, which offers fully furnished, air conditioned rooms and suites for short and long term visitors. The hostel is priced affordably and prices include breakfast.

Description The Water Research Center (WRC) at NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research on membrane fouling and functional membranes, including electrically conductive membranes. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Raed Hashaikeh in the Mechanical Engineering Department, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and graduate students. The postdoctoral associate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities at NYUAD. This position supports two interconnected research streams: Investigating membrane fouling mechanisms and mitigation strategies in desalination and water treatment processes. Developing and optimizing functional membranes, including electrically conductive membranes, for use in desalination, energy generation, and electrochemical separations. Responsibilities: Conduct research on membrane fouling (biofouling, scaling, organic fouling), diagnostics, and control strategies. Design, fabricate, and characterize functional membranes (e.g., conductive, anti-fouling, electrochemical systems). Operate and evaluate membrane systems (RO, NF, UF) at lab and pilot scales. Apply advanced characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, AFM, FTIR, XRD, TGA, BET, EDX, EIS, CV). Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers in materials science, chemical and environmental engineering. Contribute to mentorship of students and lab group discussions. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Strong background in membrane science with demonstrated expertise in either membrane fouling or electrochemical membrane technologies. Experience with membrane fabrication, testing, and characterization. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively. A strong publication record with first-author articles. Desired Qualifications: Expertise in fouling analysis and mitigation, including cleaning protocols and pretreatment strategies. Familiarity with conductive membranes, carbon-based materials, or mixed-matrix systems. Experience with electrochemical methods (e.g., EIS, CV) and surface functionalization. Knowledge of materials for charge transport and ion exchange. Prior collaboration with international or multidisciplinary research teams. Description The Digital Heritage AI Project Cluster, housed within the newly established Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science at New York University Abu Dhabi, invites applications for a Research Assistant position. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a pioneering research initiative situated at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cultural heritage. The successful candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research and development in 3D computer vision and machine learning for the digital preservation of cultural heritage. The project focuses on state-of-the-art techniques such as Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) and Gaussian Splatting to reconstruct and render highly detailed and photorealistic 3D models of artifacts, historical objects, and cultural environments. These methods aim to advance global efforts in heritage conservation, virtual accessibility, and educational outreach. Key Responsibilities Develop, test, and optimize AI-driven pipelines for 3D reconstruction and rendering. Implement and evaluate neural rendering techniques using real-world digital heritage datasets. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of researchers from computer science, digital humanities, and archaeology. Support data preprocessing, visualization, experiment documentation, and manuscript preparation. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
