The University of Vigo, founded in 1990, is a public institution located in the autonomous area of Galicia in north western Spain. It prides itself to be a Galician, international-looking university.. 

Its premises are divided into three campuses. The Lagoas-Marcosende campus, which is 15 kilometers away from the city of Vigo, focuses on technology. The Lagoas campus in downtown Ourense centers on water research that produces social and economic value. The Pontevedra campus, also located in an urban setting, mixes arts, sports and humanities.

The degrees offered at the University of Vigo spread across science, technology, social sciences, law and humanities. However, the university is also considered one of the most technical universities in Galicia, with a particular focus on telecommunications, computer science, industrial engineering and environment engineering. 

The institution's campuses are lively, with a lot of small film festivals, concerts, art exhibitions and sports taking place throughout the year. The Outdoor Campus is an experiment the university has undertaken where students improve their teamwork spirit and skills, and strategic thinking and problem solving ability by getting involved in sports and socio-cooperative games. Sports you can try out on campus are fencing, introductory rugby, tennis, archery and athletics. 

The University of Vigo is the only Spanish higher education institution to have sent two micro-satellites into space. It publishes the interdisciplinary journal of marine studies Thalassas

We are seeking passionate and highly motivated individuals to join our innovative and energetic teaching team as Senior Lecturers in the Division of Education, School of Biomedical Sciences. Our Division has a strong track record in leading cutting edge teaching initiatives and pedagogical research. Applicants should have formal training or teaching experience in at least one of the following areas: biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, histology, or anatomy (including gross anatomy or neuroanatomy). For anatomy focused candidates, experience in teaching human dissection is essential. Applicants should also hold a PhD in biomedical sciences or a related discipline and possess at least eight years of post-doctoral teaching experience in the higher education sector. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, an ability to contribute to curriculum development, and a proven record of effective engagement with students. S/he is expected to: demonstrate a proven track record of teaching excellence and education leadership; understand the landscape and challenges of higher education; have experience in programme management, curriculum and course design; show commitment to leading and participating in educational and professional development activities; strive for excellence in educating future health professionals; and be a strong team player with excellent communication skills. The appointee will work closely with the team on curriculum review, lead educational and pedagogical initiatives, and contribute to sharing good teaching practices and provide staff training. S/he will also be engaged in teaching undergraduate preclinical and biomedical sciences courses, student mentoring, course coordination, and other teaching-related administrative duties. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. We are excited to invite applications for a Research Fellow (Communications and Education Officer) position funded by the EU, as part of a new European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare. The position will be based in the School of Biosciences at the University of Surrey, but it will involve working closely with colleagues in the School of Veterinary Medicine. You will be part of a team and will support communication and educational activities in a vibrant, inter-disciplinary research environment with a strong international reputation. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in research related to animal health and welfare, and will have experience of managing communication and education activities within a large international project. This role is ideal for candidates who have a strong track record of producing content for, and managing, social media channels in addition to experience of organising educational, dissemination and exploitation activities. The role will specifically include organising summer schools, short-term missions, workshops, scientific conferences, training courses and supporting PhD students. Therefore, experience of organising events and communicating complex scientific information in clear, concise, and accurate language that can be understood by scientific audiences and the general public would be an advantage. We would especially be keen to hear from candidates who have previously worked as part of an international scientific project team.
