Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of China’s leading higher education institutions, as well as one of its oldest; its roots can be traced back to 1897 and the founding of the Qiushi Academy.

Located in Hangzhou – one of China’s most picturesque cities – the university is organised across seven faculties and 36 schools. It is home to 3,500 full-time academic members of staff and around 45,000 students undergraduates, of which around 60 per cent opt to pursue further studies. More facts and figures here.

 

High Ambitions

Laying claim to several areas of research strength, ZJU currently ranks within the top 100 universities in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings.

The institution prides itself on a culture of innovation and creativity and has significantly invested in the development of cutting-edge specialisms in order to encourage both. Manned spaceflight, assembly technology for large aircraft, clean energy, marine technology, industrial control technology, and global public health initiatives related to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, have all benefitted from the recent investment.

ZJU is also renowned for the number of business start-ups it gives rise to. Over 100 of its alumni sit at the helm of domestic or overseas listed companies, while a further 200 have been elected members of the prestigious Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, making Zhejiang University synonymous with entrepreneurship and leadership.

Other innovative developments include the creation of a high-level platform for intellectual property exchange, as well as the formation of a number of think-tanks, including the China Academy of Western Region Development, the National Research Center for Agricultural and Rural Development, and the Institute for Public Policy, which exists to extend the scope of ZJU’s social sciences’ research.

 

Global Outlook

Zhejiang University has strategic partnerships in place with 140 overseas institutions from more than 30 countries worldwide. Included among them are such leading institutions as Imperial College London, Princeton University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

With a cohort of 6,000 international students, and around 8,000 teachers and students who participate annually in its various overseas exchange programmes, ZJU prides itself on the strength of its global outlook.

In collaboration with the Universities of Edinburgh and Illinois, it has also established the ZJU-UoE and ZJU-UIUC Institutes on the international Haining Campus, and boasts an overseas presence at Imperial College London, with future plans to establish a China-US Business School with the University of Pennsylvania.

Job Purpose At SIT's Professional Officers Division, we bring our rich industry experience and technical skills into our work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place. We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and to strengthen & energise our industry and the wider community. A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: participate in and manage innovation projects, manage digital technology related resources, and mentor & facilitate student learning. The Centre for Digital Enablement (CoDE) drives the initiatives to elevate digital competencies for academic staff and students within SIT. It works with various stakeholders, both internal and external, in upskilling digital literacy across the organization through literacy programmes and digital innovation projects in relation to the Digital Learning Spaces (DLS). For this role, you will spearhead the various AI enablement programmes in SIT, manage the AI related resources and initiatives within CoDE, and lead AI projects within SIT and with industry partners to support teaching and learning objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy courses to undergraduate students and academic staff as part of the institutional drive to ensure our graduates are ready for a highly digitally-enabled workforce. Additionally, you’ll be required to mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Key Responsibilities AI Enablement Programmes Lead and oversee a range of AI enablement programmes to facilitate the growth of AI skills among SIT undergraduate students and academic staff. Develop an AI Competency Roadmap, providing guidance for SIT undergraduate students and academic staff in developing their AI competencies. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI, ensuring the continued relevancy and currency of the AI enablement programmes and AI Competency Roadmap. Manage AI-related resources within the division such as the administration of software, hardware systems, and equipment. AI Projects Drive AI projects within CoDE to support teaching and learning objectives. Collaborate with industry partners, faculty, Professional Officers and other stakeholders to conduct applied research in AI related technologies. Supervise and mentor students in the development of AI projects. Teaching & Student Mentorship Develop and deliver digital skills literacy related courses or workshops to undergraduate students and staff. This includes development of learning contents and activities, providing consultations on digital skills/technology related queries, and assessment and grading of students’ work. Mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Any other matters as directed by Director/Deputy Director of CoDE. Job Requirements A good degree in Computer Science or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. 10+ years of working experience, including at least 5 in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Analytics, or a related area.SIT Internal Proven experience in developing and deploying AI solutions. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar. Proficiency in data preprocessing, model training, and evaluation techniques. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Possess strong supervisory skills and project management skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure that the project can meet the milestones adhering to the stipulated timeline. Enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.

Description Laboratory for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. Laboratory for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine oversees a variety of exciting projects developing new treatments and diagnostics for cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will join a number of fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to modulate physiology and neural activity in the brain, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and other peripheral organs. These projects have a high potential for translation towards treating a variety of neurologic and metabolic disorders. These approaches entail device design and manufacturing, drug conjugation, neuroscience, and preclinical model experiments. The candidate will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD-level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full-time researchers. They will also have the chance to contribute to other projects within CENTMED, working on cutting-edge initiatives spanning metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases. Description We are seeking researchers who are passionate about Data Science, with an emphasis in Computational Social Science, with a starting date of September 1, 2026. Some of the possible research topics include: (i) social media analysis, (ii) collaboration and teamwork, (iii) gender inequality, (iv) diversity, (v) online controlled experiments, and (vi) network science. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and hard-working with a Masters degree in Data Science, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or Information Science, or a bachelor’s degree with several years of experience and expertise in their field. The position requires experience with at least one of the following: Data Science, Machine Learning, Computational Social Science, Big Data. Relevant skills could include statistical analysis, data management and collection, causal inference, network analysis, graph theory, visualizations, and online tool development.
