Academics have analysed the use of Twitter during British National Party leader Nick Griffin's appearance on the BBC One show Question Time. Nick Anstead, lecturer in politics at the University of East Anglia, and Ben O'Loughlin, lecturer in international relations at Royal Holloway, University of London, concluded that Twitter and other social media are blurring the boundaries of traditional broadcasting. They found that during the debate, Twitterers were searching the web for pictures of Mr Griffin to use in comments and that playwright Bonnie Greer was the most popular panellist.
