FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY With offers of BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, BSc (Hons) in Analytical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees, the Department presently has around 150 undergraduate students, 70 taught postgraduate students and 90 research students and project staff. The Department places a strong emphasis on both quality education and scholarly research/services, and has reached a significant milestone where its educational programmes are not only innovative but also accessible, and its major areas of research strength are well recognised and supported.  It is now inviting applications for the position of: Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (25260426) Responsibilities: The appointee will be expected to conduct independent, high-quality research, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and demonstrate research achievements of originality and depth. The ideal candidate will have the potential to become a leading international scholar and contribute to impactful research and innovative technological applications. The appointee will also supervise MPhil and PhD students, develop a vigorous research program at the forefront of basic and translational chemical / environmental engineering, and engage in broader scholarly activities such as organising academic conferences, symposia, and seminars. Requirements: Applicants should hold a PhD in Chemical Science or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, Biomedical Science or Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. They must have relevant postdoctoral research experience, an excellent track record of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed international journals (as first and/or senior author), and a strong history of securing external research funding through competitive grants. Expertise in chemical, biomedical, and/or environmental science and engineering including AI for chemistry is highly desirable, as it will complement the department’s existing strengths in related research and pedagogical areas. Job Description SCHOOL OF CHINESE MEDICINE TEACHING AND RESEARCH DIVISION The School of Chinese Medicine was established in 1999 and offers comprehensive education programmes in Chinese medicine, including both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine. The School is engaged in a wide range of research projects, provides Chinese medicine healthcare services to the community, and seeks to foster modernisation of the Chinese medicine profession. To consolidate the strengths of innovative research, the School has established eight high quality theme-based Research Centres equipped with advanced equipment and facilities. The highlighted strategic research areas in the School include (1) Precision medicine and phenomics study; (2) Translational medicine and innovative drug discovery; and (3) Authentication and testing of Chinese medicines. Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor (23241272) The School of Chinese Medicine now invites applications for faculty position at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor level. Applicants should possess a PhD in medicinal chemistry/biochemistry/biology/medicine background and research focus on the area are invited to join the School. Excellent interpersonal communication and scientific writing skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with appealing external grant record, outstanding publication and leading potential of industrialisation for development of prognostic and predictive biomarkers as well as innovative therapeutic intervention. The appointee is also expected to teach chemistry/systems biology/biomedical sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, establish a vigorous and independent research programme in the areas of interest, and lead the school phenome research center to develop interdisciplinary collaborations within and outside the School. Job Description SCHOOL OF CHINESE MEDICINE TEACHING AND RESEARCH DIVISION Post-doctoral Fellow / Senior Research Assistant / Research Assistant (25260023) The applicant is expected to conduct research projects in the areas of Chinese medicine and rheumatoid arthritis. Applicants should possess an MPhil or PhD degree in Pharmacy of Chinese Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Immunology, or related fields. Those with research experience in exosome, cell and animal handling are preferred. Responsibilities: Conduct literature review and experiments for relevant research projects; Supervise junior research staff and students; Undertake any other duties as assigned; and Assist in applying for external competitive research grants. Requirements: An MPhil or PhD degree in Pharmacy of Chinese Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Immunology, or related discipline, with at least one first-authored SCI paper in the related field; Solid foundation in cell/animal experiments and immunology, prior experience of exosomes and molecular biology will be preferred; Ability to write research papers in English; Innovative, self-motivated with good planning and organisational skills; and Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
