Heriot-Watt University - Snow excuse for falling behind

A Scottish university's online-study programme has helped snowed-in residents of Highland villages to continue studying for their Higher and Advanced Higher examinations. Heriot-Watt University's online programme Scholar offers interactive learning materials. It allows teachers to monitor progress remotely, so pupils who cannot get to school because of bad weather can log on and continue their studies in the run-up to the important exams. Philip John, dean of science and engineering, said the university had experienced a higher volume of pupils logging on to the system during the recent cold snap.
