Introduction As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop software platforms for supporting multi-user AR/VR applications. Key Responsibilities Participate in the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Experience in developing XR app for teaching & learning/training. Experience developing optimized modules within Unity and/or Unreal Engine Experience with database management systems User study – Optional. End-to-End Study Leadership: Lead the full lifecycle of user research, from defining objectives and methodologies (e.g., usability, A/B testing, interviews) to facilitating sessions and extracting unbiased, actionable insights. Scientific Authoring & Publication: Drive the creation of high-quality research papers for top-tier peer-reviewed venues (e.g., CHI, UIST, CSCW), translating complex technical architectures and study results into compelling academic narratives. Ethical Oversight & IRB Management: Manage the formal Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, ensuring all protocols, data handling, and participant interactions meet the highest ethical and legal standards for human-subjects research. Advanced Data Synthesis: Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify deep behavioral patterns, using these findings to ground both product development and scholarly contributions in empirical evidence.

Senior Stem Cell Lab Technician

Applications are invited for the role of Senior stem cell lab technician to join the vision research group within Clinical and Experimental Sciences (CES) at the University of Southampton.  You should have extensive laboratory expertise in cell biology and human tissue culture. The role includes extensive work with human pluripotent stem cells and so previous experience and expertise with CRISPR/Cas9 technologies in addition to laboratory leadership would be an advantage. For example some work will include reprogramming hiPSC derived from patient fibroblasts and retinal organoid cultures. You should be a highly motivated candidate, capable of independently designing and carrying out experiments as well as intellectually contributing to the projects and managing multiple workstreams to achieve their goals in a timely manner. You should be interested in the interface between lab-based research and clinical research and ideally have a track record of publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals. The vision group investigates various aspects of paediatric and adult eye disease from very clinical projects to lab based and genetic studies in-house with multiple collaborations between PI’s in the vision research group. This role is to support those aspects of projects related to stem cell work. Importantly, this includes regular but minimal weekend maintenance work and covering other staff duties where necessary. Hence, this exciting role offers the opportunity to work at the interphase of cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research on multiple ophthalmic disorders. You will join a vibrant and dynamic research group and be expected to work as a team with other postdocs, PhD/undergraduate students, clinician scientists and technicians as part of the wider vision research group. You will collaborate with colleagues across Faculties of Medicine and Biological Sciences at the University of Southampton and colleagues in other institutions. The candidate can expect a collegial and research-focused environment with mentoring and career development support from the line manager Jorn Lakowski and the other vision groups PI team.  The post is available for a period of 2 years in the first instance. Description The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a motivated and passionate post-doctoral associate to work under the supervision of Dr. Hanan Salam on the: Development of an Augmented Smart Classroom for Personalized Learning (SmartClass) serving as a test-bed for the collection and analysis of students and professors data, leveraging on data analytics and machine learning to improve learning outcomes and engagement in the classroom, and Development of personal GPT-powered AI tutors that use the knowledge from (1) to provide personalized recommendations and improve the overall learning experience for students. The project seeks to promote lifelong learning by revolutionizing traditional teaching methods and providing innovative tools for interactive and distance learning. Key Responsibilities: Research Conduct research and development on the Augmented Smart Classroom (SmartClass) platform, focusing on data collection, analytics, and real-time classroom monitoring. Design and implement machine learning models to analyze multimodal data (e.g., student behavior, engagement, and performance) to enhance personalized learning. Develop and evaluate GPT-powered AI tutor systems, integrating insights from classroom data to deliver individualized learning experiences.
