About the Job We are seeking a proactive and experienced Business Engagement and Support Manager to lead the development and delivery of high-impact business support programmes. You will play a key role in strengthening RDSBL’s engagement with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), acting as a vital bridge between the university and the local business ecosystem. This role involves managing business support initiatives such as incubators, accelerators, and the Help to Grow programme. You will be responsible for stakeholder engagement, community outreach, programme delivery, and partnership development. From coordinating impactful events to producing evaluation reports, your work will help enhance the university’s contribution to economic growth and innovation. You will also collaborate closely with academic colleagues to integrate business engagement into teaching and research, and support student involvement in enterprise activities. About You You are an experienced professional with a background in business development, entrepreneurship, or SME support. You have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by local businesses and are passionate about helping them succeed. You bring excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills and have experience delivering multi-stakeholder initiatives. A relevant Master’s degree and a business coaching qualification are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively across academic and external communities. Ideally, you also have experience working in a university or higher education setting, and familiarity with government-funded business support schemes. Heritage 360 is a new and exciting research platform funded through Durham University's Strategic Research Fund. Dedicated to holistic approaches to heritage, and in particular to drawing together research on natural and cultural heritage, Heritage 360 is supporting senior posts in six academic departments (Archaeology, Biosciences, Chemistry, Geography, History, Modern Languages and Cultures). Successful postholders will be departmentally-based but for the four-year duration of the initiative will be focused on research, with relatively limited teaching load (in agreement with department management). The post The Department of Archaeology at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Professor of Cultural and Natural Heritage. We welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests that integrate the fields of cultural and natural heritage with archaeology. We are particularly eager to hear from applicants with a focus on how research can mobilise traditional technologies and knowledge systems in natural and cultural landscape management and collaborate and undertake co-production with a range of non-academic stakeholders in heritage management. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The Research Engineer (Modelling and Simulation) will support a one-year applied research project and evaluate a mobile DC microgrid for military tactical applications. The role involves developing detailed power system models in ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink, conducting performance and reliability simulations, and analysing the behaviour of solar PV, BESS, diesel generators, and DC distribution systems. The engineer will also document modelling assumptions, prepare technical reports, support procurement and project operations, and assist in supervising student researchers. This position is ideal for candidates with strong grounding in power system modelling, microgrid technologies, and simulation-based research. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the PI, Co-PI, and team to design a robust mobile DC microgrid for military operations. Develop detailed simulation models simulation models in ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink for solar PV arrays, battery energy storage systems (BESS), vehicle-based deployable storage, diesel generator sets and rectifiers, DC distribution bus and electrical loads. Implement and carry out simulation studies to analyse system performance under various operating conditions such as extreme weather, load variation, equipment failure and deployment constraints. Perform load flow, transient stability, reliability, and efficiency studies to evaluate microgrid architecture options. Support the integration of various generation assets into a cohesive DC microgrid model. Document modelling assumptions, system parameters, simulation results, and engineering insights for final reporting. Prepare simulation diagrams, charts, and technical specifications for submission. Assist with procurement of software licences and technical equipment. Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with WSH regulations. Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project. Work independently and collaboratively to maintain research software and project tools. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university. Knowledge and experience in modelling and simulation of microgrids or power systems using ETAP and/or MATLAB/Simulink. Experience in distributed energy resources (DERs), PV, BESS, diesel gensets, or DC microgrids is highly advantageous. Familiarity with energy management systems, microgrid control strategies, or predictive/dynamic control will be an advantage. Experience in conducting simulation studies, analysing results, and preparing technical reports. Commitment to supervising student projects and supporting hands-on training activities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.  Job Details This Research Fellow will contribute to the UrEco 2030+ project: “Optimizing Urban Ecosystem Services Model for Urban Climate and Biodiversity in Singapore towards 2030 and Beyond.” This position requires experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related fields, with added expertise in ecosystem services assessment, ecological engineering, social sciences, policy making, environmental science, and/or urban environmental issues at the policy–academic interface. This position is ideal for an early- or mid-career researcher with experience in GIS or remote sensing who seeks to apply and expand their expertise in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research environment. The successful candidate will work with leading researchers and contribute to cutting-edge research and policy dialogues at the intersection of blue–green infrastructure, tropical urban ecosystem services, and urban resilience (covering themes such as urban flooding, thermal cooling, recreation, and biodiversity). The work includes Local Climate Zone (LCZ) classification and collaboration with Japanese university partners for integrated macro- to micro-scale analysis. As part of understanding the ecosystem services that are involved in Singapore, the successful candidate will also be expected to perform some field-based data collection during the duration of the project. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.  Identify, simulate, and analyse ecosystem service models using GIS, remote sensing, and field data. Manage, process, and analyse ecological and socio-economic datasets to develop and calibrate high-accuracy ecosystem service models. Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings into conceptual frameworks and research designs. Support cross–work package integration, particularly in developing tools for blue–green infrastructure policy and decision-making. Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and visualization. Draft and edit research reports, policy briefs, and academic manuscripts. Contribute to project management, workshop organization, and stakeholder or policy dialogues. Be involved in regular field work data collection and to perform environmental and biodiversity surveys (fish, birds and insects) as part of a research team.  To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Job Requirements PhD in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related disciplines. Strong working knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data analysis techniques. Training or demonstrated experience in remote sensing, spatial data collection, and thematic mapping. Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, MATLAB, SPSS, Primer, Python). Experience with analytical techniques such as ANOVA, PCA, Regression, and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). Experience in ecosystem service identification and analysis is highly advantageous. Excellent data management, research design, and reporting skills. Strong communication and presentation skills in English. Highly organized, proactive, and capable of working both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Additional Note: While prior experience in ecosystem service modelling and simulation is not mandatory, it will be considered a strong advantage.
