Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) who will conduct research on the physical layer design of optical wireless communication systems as enablers of wireless access/backhaul of 6G and beyond networks. The PDA will be jointly supervised by Murat Uysal and Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem. Principal Responsibilities The PDA will conduct research to design and develop optical wireless communication systems. This involves the development of mathematical models for signal transmission/reception, derivation of performance limits, algorithmic-level system design and performance evaluation via computer simulations and/or experimental means. The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The PDA is expected to contribute to intellectual property development through patent filings and participate in international standardization efforts relevant to optical wireless technologies in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include: Strong background in communication theory, signal processing, wireless/optical communications, and communication system engineering Extensive experience in physical layer algorithm design and performance analysis  Proven track record of publications in relevant IEEE journals and conferences In addition to the above qualifications, it is highly desirable that the candidate has prior research experience in one or more of the following research topics: Free space optical communication Visible light communication DSP for coherent optical communication Machine learning and AI-native physical layer design Optical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces  Spatial mode multiplexing and orbital angular momentum The candidates will be considered until the position is filled. We are looking for a Service Coordinator to support the three heads of departments of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences on the Viikki Campus as of 1.3.2025 or by agreement. As a Service Coordinator, you will work in the General Administration Services team on the Viikki Campus to support the heads of the departments of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences (Department of Organism and Evolutionary Biology, Department of Molecular and Integrative Biosciences and Department of Environmental Sciences) ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations. Your duties will include wide range of service tasks, such as: Tasks related to the coordination of department workspaces (personnel office / desk assignments and other spaces) Supporting the onboarding and induction of new employees Scheduling and organizing seminars, meetings and events, facility reservations; Assisting with internal and stakeholder communication (in cooperation with the communications unit); Coordinating the activities and acting as secretary of the departments' steering groups and other department groups; (department´s annual clock, a-mail lists and Team groups) Managing department annual clocks and supporting digitalization, using email lists, booking calendars, Teams platforms, etc. Assisting department heads with routine requests from the department’s staff e.g. "commitment letters" of funding applications) About you We value experience or familiarity in managing tasks like those outlined above, as well as an relevant degree (e.g. BBA). You are self-motivated, flexible, cooperative, perceive things holistically, and have a genuine service attitude and a desire to develop and take on new challenges. You have good organizational and prioritization skills as well as interaction skills. You are motivated to develop our work community to avoid ‘last minute pressure’ situations whenever possible but are able to manage if one arises. To succeed in our international work community, you must be able to communicate fluently both orally and in writing, both in Finnish and English, and you also have a command of Swedish. Research assistant positions at the International Business Unit at Aalto University School of Business What would I do as a research assistant? You would be working with the faculty on academic research projects, teaching related tasks and assignments about societal impact. Potential tasks include data collection and analysis, conducting literature reviews, statistical analyses, research interviews, and any other research tasks. The topics you may work on are varied and broad, such as headquarters (re)locations, diversity, languages in organizations, sustainability, human resources, and international entrepreneurship. We have a need for a few research assistants. The selected research assistants are expected to start either in May or latest in June, and continue throughout the summer and, if possible, stay with the faculty throughout the whole academic year. There is a possibility to work full time or part-time, with flexibility based on mutual preferences. What’s in it for me?
