The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) is a public university in Bucharest, Romania. It was founded in 1913 by the Royal Decree of Carol I of Romania as the Academy of Higher-Level Commercial and Industrial Studies. In 1947, it was reorganised and merged with the Academy of Cooperative Studies to form the Academy of Commercial and Cooperative Studies. Then during the Communist Era, it was turned into the Institute for Economic Sciences and Planning in 1948, to follow a model of Soviet higher education systems. It was finally renamed The Bucharest University of Economic Studies in 1967. It was the first economic higher education institution established in Romania and has now become the largest, in both Romania and Southeastern Europe. It is one of the five members of the Universitaria Consortium, the group of elite Romanian universities. It has 22,684 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, across 11 faculties: the faculty of business administration in foreign languages, the faculty of administration and public management, the faculty of business and tourism, the faculty of economic cybernetics, the faculty of statistics and informatics, the faculty of accounting and environmental economics, the faculty of finance, the faculty of insurance, the faculty of banking and stock exchange, the faculty of management, the faculty of marketing, the faculty of international business and economics. ASE is currently involved in a wide range of national and global research projects and has earned an outstanding reputation for its output and academic programs. Bucharest is the capital and largest city in Romania, located in the southeast of the country on the banks of the Dambovita River, less than 60km north of the Danube River and the Bulgarian border.

Fellowship in the Society of Fellows in the Humanities (Ref.: 533914) The Society seeks outstanding applicants (appointed at the rank of Research Assistant Professor), with a flexible commencement date between June and August 2026 for a period of three years. The Society aims to establish a vibrant research community where Fellows interact with each other and other members of the Faculty.  Fellows will be expected to teach two courses during the term of their appointment and are required to submit a brief annual summary of their activities and accomplishments. The University of Hong Kong is an English-medium university. A host department within the Faculty of Arts will be selected on the basis of a Fellow’s proposed area of research. Applicants must have a PhD conferred after January 1, 2024, but not later than June 30, 2026. They will not be currently employed in tenure-track positions. A highly competitive package including medical benefits, annual leave, and conference and research support will be offered to the successful applicants. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The role is centred on functional physiology, using electrophysiology and calcium imaging as core tools, supported by molecular biology, cell culture, and in vivo experiments. The successful candidate will lead mechanistic, function-first research programs that inform therapeutic development across multiple modalities (e.g. small molecules, antibodies, RNA-based approaches). Driven by the work of our three core pillars, ResQ (Research), InnoQ (Innovation), and EduQ (Education), InstituteQ aims to turn long-term scientific excellence into real-world impact, positioning Finland as a leading, open, and globally connected hub for quantum innovation. Chair of Excellence in Quantum Science and Technology Call 2026 InstituteQ is opening two positions in its third call for the Chair of Excellence in Quantum Science and Technology. What is the Chair of Excellence Program? The chair of excellence program is designed to host international leading experts and eminent scholars at one of the host organizations at InstituteQ for a three-year term, and a cumulative commitment of 9–12 months. The chairs are expected to strengthen key scientific areas where InstituteQ already holds significant visibility and also to foster expertise and excellence in emerging areas. Currently, over 90 research groups participate in the operations of the institute (full list of research groups here). Focus areas include, but are not limited, to quantum materials (such as superconducting flat-band and two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals materials), quantum software and algorithms, and quantum devices (including solid state qubits, quantum circuits, quantum nanomechanics). Appointed chairs are expected to collaborate with InstituteQ research groups, present their work at InstituteQ colloquia, and deliver a lecture (either individually or as a guest lecturer) during their stay. Chair of Excellence call 2026 InstituteQ invites international leading experts and eminent scholars to apply for two positions as Chair of Excellence in Quantum Science and Technology. The call is open to both senior-level scientists and outstanding young researchers with a proven track record of excellence. InstituteQ actively promotes diversity in all its forms; researchers with underrepresented and historically marginalized identities, particularly relating to gender, are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to enrich strategic focus areas of member organization at InstituteQ and additionally or alternatively initiate and/or strengthen emerging themes of high relevance and of candidate’s interest. One position is hosted at Aalto University and the other at the University of Jyväskylä (JYU). Each position includes a EUR 60 000 award* distributed over the three-year period 2026-2028, including EUR 15 000 travel grant (EUR 5 000/year). The Chair is expected to conduct at least 2-3 longer term research and teaching visits to the host university. The total duration of the visits is expected to be 9-12 months, distributed flexibly based on mutual agreement between the host university and the candidate over the three-year period 2026-2028.
