There are three undergraduate faculties at the university including letters, environmental and symbiotic sciences and administrative studies. The postgraduate faculties include languages and literature, environmental and symbiotic sciences and administrative studies. The university hosts a range of festivals for students to get involved with. The Centre for International and Education and Exchange provides support for international and domestic students in both Japanese and English. The Centre is also home to the Global Lounge where students can access foreign language resources and students can book language tutorial sessions.

Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The position will be directly supervised by Professor Mostafa Mobasher and will involve strong collaboration with the SHORES multidisciplinary research teams. The project will be focused on advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage of geomechanical materials when subjected a range of multiphysical loading regimes including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The direct applications of these research will be aimed at enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration. The project activities will involve the development of the theory and implementation of the advanced mechanics and numerical models as well as constitutive model calibration and validation based on physical experimental data. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience in the fields of computational mechanics and computational geomechanics. This academic post will be working with our Chair of Palliative Care and Child Health, Lorna Fraser and will support an NIHR funded programme Improving Care for children with life-limiting Conditions: developing, adapting, implementing and evaluating interventions (ICICLE). You will contribute to new grant applications and advise on studies to completion and publication, including supervision of research team members. You will also contribute to teaching and provide PhD and MSc supervision. This post will be full-time in the Cicely Saunders Institute and will be a fixed term contract until 30/11/29 in the first instance.
