GoGreen Next is a 54-month EU Horizon Europe funded project to promote urban health, targeting four European pilot sites, which ends June 30th, 2028. The successful candidate will support the principal investigator (Dr Tadhg MacIntyre) and all members of the research team to support applied research activities and meet key objectives of the project. They will assist with managing all stages in the research from ethics applications to analysis and reporting on the findings. As a member of the research team, the appointee will contribute to research outputs, deliverables and required reporting processes. Research Assistant Level 1 (2025) Salary Scale: €33,292-€34,545 (3 points) per annum/pro rata Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions. We are looking for a Service Coordinator to support the three heads of departments of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences on the Viikki Campus as of 1.3.2025 or by agreement. As a Service Coordinator, you will work in the General Administration Services team on the Viikki Campus to support the heads of the departments of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences (Department of Organism and Evolutionary Biology, Department of Molecular and Integrative Biosciences and Department of Environmental Sciences) ensuring the smooth running of the daily operations. Your duties will include wide range of service tasks, such as: Tasks related to the coordination of department workspaces (personnel office / desk assignments and other spaces) Supporting the onboarding and induction of new employees Scheduling and organizing seminars, meetings and events, facility reservations; Assisting with internal and stakeholder communication (in cooperation with the communications unit); Coordinating the activities and acting as secretary of the departments' steering groups and other department groups; (department´s annual clock, a-mail lists and Team groups) Managing department annual clocks and supporting digitalization, using email lists, booking calendars, Teams platforms, etc. Assisting department heads with routine requests from the department’s staff e.g. "commitment letters" of funding applications) About you We value experience or familiarity in managing tasks like those outlined above, as well as an relevant degree (e.g. BBA). You are self-motivated, flexible, cooperative, perceive things holistically, and have a genuine service attitude and a desire to develop and take on new challenges. You have good organizational and prioritization skills as well as interaction skills. Description The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Research Assistant position to support ongoing research in the design, development, and characterization of innovative and multifunctional construction materials, including self-sensing and self-healing systems, with applications in infrastructure, oil and gas, and energy-efficient construction. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of postdoctoral researchers, faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students on a range of projects, including: Investigation of self-healing cementitious materials, including chemical and bio-based approaches (e.g., bio-mineralization, encapsulated agents). Characterization of self-sensing materials, including their electrical and mechanical behavior under various stressors;Contribution to life-cycle assessment (LCA) and life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) of novel materials to evaluate their environmental and economic impacts; Support in experimental design, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of findings through reports and publications. Qualifications: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field. Prior experience in materials synthesis, especially from industrial byproducts or brine sources, and in construction material characterization. Familiarity with life-cycle assessment (LCA) tools and methodologies. Exposure to smart materials, self-healing technologies, or sensor-integrated cementitious systems is a strong plus. Strong laboratory skills, data analysis capabilities, and a collaborative mindset. Preferred Skills: Experience with AC impedance spectroscopy, electrical resistivity measurements, or chemical durability testing. Basic programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for data handling and sensor signal analysis. Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and the ability to support multiple concurrent projects.
