Davidson College is a selective, prestigious liberal arts college in Davidson, North Carolina, US. The institution was established in 1837 by Presbyterians. Its honour code sets students' compassion, creativity, resilience, and moral courage as the key character traits the college community should aim to foster.
The College offers a variety of programmes including African studies, art, biology, chemistry, Chinese language and literature, French, German studies, history, interdisciplinary studies, physics, political science, psychology, theatre and others. 70 per cent of classes have fewer than 20 students.
Davidson College also excels at athletics. Just under 25 per cent of students compete in 21 sports at NCAA’s Division I athletics. Amongst the sports practiced at Davidson are tennis, basketball, football, baseball, golf, swimming and diving, wrestling, volleyball, field hockey, track and field, lacrosse and soccer.
About 80 per cent of the college’s students study or work abroad while at Davidson.
Most students live on the 665-acre campus with 110 acres of lakes, which is located 19 miles north of Charlotte. They engage in over 200 student organisations centred around arts and culture, sports, politics, social action, diversity and fraternity or sorority life.
Around a quarter of students at College are of colour.

The Nonlinear Systems and Control group is seeking a talented and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher to develop machine learning-enabled approaches for predictive modelling and state estimation for fundamental applications within physical sciences. Your role The main research responsibilities involve building cutting edge machine learning techniques for sequential data modelling, including Physics-informed Machine Learning and Koopman Operator-based representation framework, towards building interpretable predictive models for complex multi-physics dynamical systems as well as towards designing observer-based state estimators from output timeseries data measurements. The research also involves development of uncertainty quantification techniques for the learnt models. You will also have opportunities to contribute to open-source computational tools and datasets, teach master-level courses, and advise doctoral students. You will closely collaborate with Prof. Mari Lundström’s group as well as industry partners and leading research institutions within the Nordics and the EU. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary initiatives within the Aalto House of AI. Your experience You have a recent doctoral degree in electrical engineering, control engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or a related field. Offering a wide range of programmes, including the unique and widely respected BA (hons) in Theology and Counselling, the School attracts students from around the globe, training them to serve Christ in the Church, academy and community. Job Summary LST is seeking two part-time Theology and Counselling faculty members to lecture, tutor, supervise and undertake professional and clinical oversight of level 4, 5 and 6 students, including setting and marking assessments, and group-work facilitation. Key tasks also include the professional and clinical oversight of students in line with British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited course standards. Candidates must be qualified and practising psychotherapists with accreditation with the BACP or equivalent professional body. The postholders will need to be theologically well informed and be able to teach to an advanced level, covering a range of subjects and modalities relevant to an integrated theology and counselling training programme. For these two posts, we are particularly seeking applicants with specialist training and experience of integrative, Gestalt and CBT approaches to complement the existing specialisms within the team.
