Gustavus Adolphus College is a liberal arts college founded in 1862 by Swedish immigrants to the USA. The college is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and originally opened as a Lutheran parochial school before becoming the Gustavus Adolphus Literary & Theological Institute in 1873, named after the Swedish king. In 1876 the college moved to its current location in the town of St. Peter, Minnesota after the town offered it a grant of land and money. The institution is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  

Today the college educates its students across a wide range of subjects. There is a choice of over 70 programs across 24 different academic departments. The college also offers the innovative Three Crowns Curriculum which focuses on interdisciplinary study.

In 1963 the institution invited 26 Nobel laureates to attend the dedication ceremony of the college’s new Nobel Hall of Science. After the ceremony the annual Nobel Conference was established, an annual conference of science which takes place at the college under the Nobel name.

The campus covers 240 acres and features the college’s own farm, arboretum, art museum and library as well as student dining halls, residential facilities and sport and leisure services. The majority of students live on campus in halls or apartments, there is also the Carlson International Centre which is affiliated to the college’s Centre for International and Cultural Education. This centre coordinates the college’s study abroad programs and runs student services for international students studying at Gustavus Adolphus.

HiPR-LS is seeking a Training Centre Manager to lead its operations. About the role The Doctoral Landscape Awards (DLA) Hub Manager will be responsible for the management of the AHRC DLA Hub G (London and East of England), including finance and budget management The Hub consists of 12 HEIs with King’s being the Hub Lead. You will be the key contact point for all Hub members, planning and co-ordinating the shared Postgraduate Research training and cohort development activities and ensuring effective access to the Hub training offer to all PGR students at King’s and the Hub partner institutions. You will manage, schedule and arrange training sessions and events, in liaison with the Hub’s academic Director and Steering Group. You will implement and oversee a booking system that enables all Hub PGRs to register on training events and activities across the Hub, and enable effective promotion, recording and monitoring of training activity attendance. You will ensure useful and relevant reporting of training activities (for example booking numbers and attendance) and collate PGR feedback to inform future training provision. You will manage and maintain the Hub website, keeping this up to date with relevant information for both Hub colleagues and Hub PGRs. You will manage the business of the Hub Strategy Committee and Hub Steering Group (and any sub-committees), acting as Secretary and working closely with the Chair and Senior PGR Manager. You will ensure that the UKRI/AHRC Terms and Conditions of both Hub membership and Hub Lead are met through these governance structures and through efficient and clear business processes and workflows. Postdoctoral Research Associate in Work, Welfare & Mental Health

About us  The post is based in the Centre for Society and Mental Health, a cross-Faculty initiative between the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy (SSPP) and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). The centre aims to better understand the complex interrelationships between society and mental health, with a commitment to: Ensure that the impact of social context is central to how we understand mental health;  Work in partnership with affected communities.  About the role  This is an opportunity to do important research on mental health, work and the benefits system, which both contributes to public/policy debates, and provides high-quality contributions to academic debates. You will work closely with Prof. Ben Geiger and Prof. Karen Glaser as part of the Centre’s ‘Work, Welfare Reform and Mental Health’ programme. This involves collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team of researchers as well as the Centre’s academic and community partners, as part of the Centre’s wider ethos of coproduction.  Using your experience in quantitative data analysis, you will examine the links between mental distress and work, care and welfare. You will take forward some selected pre-existing projects (e.g. on the relationship between mental distress and the evolving nature of work), can choose to contribute to other existing projects (e.g. the WelfareExperiences project), and take forward new ideas of your own that relates to these topics. There is an expectation that the post holder will develop independent research (including fellowship applications), with the support of Ben, Karen and the wider Centre. The post holder will commit 0.2 FTE of their time to the delivery of teaching in their faculty. This will be agreed with your line manager and may include teaching on a module and supervising dissertations and student projects.  This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until April 2028 in first instance, view to extending subject to funding.
