One of the 12 members of the University System of Maryland, Salisbury University (SU) is a public, four-year institution located on the historic Eastern Shore and within a short distance of Ocean City, Baltimore, Pennsylvania, and the US capital, Washington DC.

The university opened as a teachers college in September 1925 and over the following decades more and more academic disciplines were introduced and in 1962 the university began offering master’s degree programs for the first time.

It was not until 2001 that the university adopted its current name and today there are four major academic schools - the Fulton School of Liberal Arts, the Henson School of Science and Technology, the Perdue School of Business, and the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies – offering a total of 42 undergraduate and 14 graduate degree programs.

The 155-acre Salisbury University campus is comprised of 56 buildings including Holloway Hall, the original home of the university in 1925. Other buildings include Henson Hall and the newly built Teacher Education and Technology Center (TETC), while the university is also a designated arboretum that features more than 2,000 species of plants.

There are ten residential halls on-campus which house around 40 percent of Salisbury University students.

The university’s biggest annual event is The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, and the university relay teams consistently raise huge sums for charity. The annual Seagull Century bike ride starts and ends on the SU campus and the 100-mile route is a huge tourism event in southern Maryland.

The Division The Social Science Division is home to over 80 full-time faculty, including a Nobel Laureate in Economics and a vibrant community of post-doctoral researchers in Economics, Political Science, Social Research & Public Policy, Business Organizations & Society, and Legal Studies. The Division offers five undergraduate majors as well as graduate programs. Faculty conduct world-class research that is both theoretically rigorous and globally engaged, with collaborations spanning every continent and close ties to policy and practice in the UAE and beyond. The Division’s research strength is internationally recognized - Economics at NYUAD ranks 4th in Asia in Research Papers in Economics, and Political Science ranks 6th globally according to a recent study. Research assistant positions at the International Business Unit at Aalto University School of Business What would I do as a research assistant? You would be working with the faculty on academic research projects, teaching related tasks and assignments about societal impact. Potential tasks include data collection and analysis, conducting literature reviews, statistical analyses, research interviews, and any other research tasks. The topics you may work on are varied and broad, such as headquarters (re)locations, diversity, languages in organizations, sustainability, human resources, and international entrepreneurship. We have a need for a few research assistants. The selected research assistants are expected to start either in May or latest in June, and continue throughout the summer and, if possible, stay with the faculty throughout the whole academic year. There is a possibility to work full time or part-time, with flexibility based on mutual preferences. What’s in it for me? As a member of our community, you will have the opportunity to widen your perspectives on various international business topics as well as familiarize yourself with an academic career and learn research skills on the job. These skills will not only be helpful in your Master’s thesis but are also in demand in many professions outside of academia. You will be part of a team that ensures our campuses are kept clean, tidy, and safe and provide excellent customer service to our staff, students, and other stakeholders. Driving to move waste and recycling to various locations Driving a road-sweeping machine You will need to be reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic, with a strong customer focus. Basic PC skills, such as the use of email, will be required. A full driving license is essential as driving vehicles is an integral part of the role. The position offers a 36-hour/week working between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, (11:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday). You will also be expected to be available for occasional weekend work covering Open Days in the Summer and Autumn.
