Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has five campuses across Florida in the cities of Dania Beach, Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Jupiter, and in Fort Pierce at the Harbour Branch Oceanographic Institution. 

Opening in 1964, the university is part of a 12 campus State University System of Florida and serves South Florida over more than 100 miles of coastline.

There are some 10 colleges with more than 180 degrees on offer, which include: arts and humanities, the sciences, medicine, nursing, accounting, business, education, social work, architecture, engineering, and computer science.

Moreover, FAU is classified by The Carnegie Foundation for its Advancement of Teaching as a research university. As a result, it has made notable partnerships with major research institutions across the country, such as: The Scripps Research Institute, and the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies.

As a result, the university is home to two centres of excellence, which are: The Centre of Excellence in Biomedical and Marine Biotechnology and The Centre for Ocean Energy Technology.

Nicknamed The Owls – FAU’s 18 sports teams compete in NCAA's Division I. The university has attracted coaches such as: Howard Schnellenberger, Matt Doherty, Rex Walters and Mike Jarvis. Over the past few years, the teams have garnered a number of accolades for their efforts. 

In an effort to increase the university’s standing, FAU have raised their admission standards, increased funding for research, established partnerships with other academic institutions and built new facilities such as an on-campus sports stadium and a new College of Medicine.

There are a variety of organisations for students to enjoy – from sports to music. Some of its most popular clubs include: sailing, ultimate frisbee, a jazz group, political organisations, chess and video game clubs. 

Notable alumni include Frank T. Brogan, the current Chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Philip Zimmermann, Jr.,  the creator of the most widely used email encryption software in the world called Pretty Good Privacy, and Steven Swanson, an American engineer and retired NASA astronaut.

At the core of the work that we do is our aim to always provide a fair, open, and transparent recruitment process for everyone involved and a positive experience for candidates and hiring managers alike. About the Role: This role provides an end-to-end recruitment service to a demanding and wide range of stakeholders. Customer service will be key, and you will pragmatically support Hiring Managers (HM) to recruit high quality individuals for the University. You will provide dedicated support to a specific Faculty/School/Professional Services directorate, where you will manage the recruitment of a variety of roles including Academic, Research and Professional Services positions. Key Responsibilities: Provide an in-house specialist talent acquisition service; partner with the HMs to deliver an effective and efficient hiring process with clear timelines and methods of delivery. Support HMs in drafting job descriptions (JDs) and adverts providing guidance to maximise the pool of qualified applications and ensure they’re legally compliant. Provide guidance on where/how to place recruitment adverts, ensuring value for money and advising on recruitment best practice including diversity and inclusion. Provide advice to panel members and create, share and maintain shortlisting grids electronically and in line with data protection/employment legislation. Facilitate the interview/assessment process – e.g. invite candidates to interview, confirm interview panel and candidate attendees; troubleshoot and adopt a common sense and calm approach to any unforeseen issues arising with the schedule. Support the HM in the negotiation process when needed i.e. provide salary data and analysis to the HM, being mindful of diversity, confidentiality and GDPR Help coach and supervise Recruitment Coordinators within the team. Communicate with unsuccessful candidates and provide feedback where appropriate. Strive to ensure that all candidates have an excellent experience when applying to King’s College. Ensure that all pre-employment checks are met for the successful candidate, liaising with the HM and Staff Compliance team as appropriate. Liaise with HR Operations and UKVI colleagues to issue the appropriate contractual paperwork when recruiting staff who require a visa. Close vacancies within the ATS and update HR electronic files accordingly. Ensure all assigned recruitment actions are entered into the ATS; ensure 100% accuracy and compliance; at the request of HMs, provide status reports in relation to applicants/progress of a recruitment/diversity statistics. Take responsibility for a distinct area of the university, regularly meet your HMs, department administrators and Director of Operations to ensure they are satisfied with the service they receive from the Recruitment Team. You will be required to attend the office a minimum of two days a week, or additional days as per the requirements of the role. This will include working with your business areas and basing yourselves in their offices as needed. Act as a point of escalation for Recruitment Coordinators to raise issues or queries related to the faculty/departments you support. About You You will have the following skills and experience: Experience working within an internal recruitment Team which have very high volumes of recruitment. About the Role Maintenance Technician - Plumber 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Plumbing Technician to join our Estates and Facilities team. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our campus facilities by undertaking statutory and planned maintenance tasks, as well as reactive repairs and minor works. Key Responsibilities Perform statutory plumbing maintenance tasks, including inspections and testing to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Proven experience in plumbing maintenance, ideally within a commercial or live public sector environment. Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements for plumbing systems (e.g., Legionella testing, water regulations). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach. A proactive, can-do attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Desirable: Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or other facilities management software. Additional qualifications in related trades (e.g., gas safety, heating systems). A full UK driving licence and the ability to participate in an out of hours call out rota are essential.
