Management structures of the European satellite radionavigation programme (Extract from: Provisional Version, Transport Council, 11 June)

The Council agreed in substance the text of the Council Regulation on the establishment of structures for the management of the European satellite radionavigation programme. The text will be adopted after its legal and linguistic finalisation in all Community languages.

The purpose of the Regulation is to set up a Community agency called the GNSS Supervisory Authority designated at ensuring the supervision of the deployment and operation phases of the European GNSS.

Parallel to this Regulation, the Council agreed a Joint Action on the aspects of the European GNSS affecting the security of the EU.
