An international workshop to discuss the latest developments in smart wearable and implantable health systems will take place from 12 to 14 December in Pisa, Italy.

The workshop will bring together researchers, industrialists and decision makers from biomedical engineering, telemedicine, micro and nanotechnologies, mobile and wireless telecommunications, public health and medicine, with a view to examining and finding solutions to some of the major problems facing smart wearable and implantable health systems.

Another important objective will be an attempt to define a roadmap for research and development (R&D) for the mid and long term.

The workshop is being organised by the University of Pisa, in collaboration with the European Commission and the engineering in medicine and biology society of the IEEE (EMB).
