Some 30% of the total beam time available for macromolecular crystallography is currently open to applications from scientists who are not included in a blocked group. These applications should be submitted using the electronic standard proposal form (available online), and will be reviewed by the Beam Time Review Committee in the normal way, on the basis of scientific merit.

However, users from the same or neighbouring institutions are encouraged to identify possible collaborations so that, for example, a three-shift period could cater to all their individual requirements.
