CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, is providing future applicants to the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) with a new o-line form to pre-register their proposal.

'By pre-registering, proposers can contribute significantly to the quality of the proposal evaluation procedure,' says Graham Stroud, Head of Unit at the European Commission, in charge of support for the implementation of research programmes.

The pre-registration forms are available on each call page. They cover the identity of the coordinator, project abstracts, FP6 activity area details and basic information on the consortium composition. Proposal coordinators can thus easily pre-register their project information for a given call in advance of submitting their actual proposal. The pre-registration, which is done on a voluntary basis, does not reflect any commitment to submit a proposal at a later stage.

The feature will help the Commission to plan evaluations, offering the possibility of matching numbers and subjects of proposals with the necessary qualifications and number of evaluators. Over 300 pre-registrations have been received since late January 2003. http://www.cordis.lu/fp6/pre_registratio n.htm
