Editor ready to take on publishing monopolies

David Prosser, the journals commissioning editor at Oxford University Press, is to head a European organisation that aims to break the monopolies that traditional publishers have on research publishing.

The Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition began in the US, and with Liber, the organisation of European research libraries, it will encourage academics to set up free-access publications in Europe.
