New universities go for award to woo students

New universities are far more likely to aim for the Investors in People award than old ones, according to research from the University of Hertfordshire. But they want the award, intended to show commitment to staff development and training, to attract students rather than staff.

IIP status has been won by only 15 higher education institutions - compared with 80 per cent of further education colleges. Of these, eight are new universities and only one is an old university. The rest are colleges of higher education.
