Number of applicants rises 2%, Ucas says

Numbers applying to university are up 2 per cent over last year, according to today's figures from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service.

British applications rose 0.9 per cent rise, while those from other European Union countries fell by 6.4 per cent. Applications from other overseas countries rose by 20 per cent.

Law remains the most popular subject, followed by computer science, psychology, and management and business studies.
