The Scottish Executive's failure to give further education "adequate" funding is threatening its own plans to boost lifelong learning, according to the Educational Institute of Scotland.
The Scottish Further Education Funding Council last week announced a 1.5 per cent increase for colleges in the coming academic year, but EIS general secretary Ronnie Smith said this amounted to a real-terms cut and was a "slap in the face" to young Scots and college staff.
