Brussels, 20 March 2002

Karlsruhe (DE): In a workshop organised at ITU end of January 2002 participants from Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria came to review the current status of co-operation and define further tasks for TRANSURANUS - a computer programme for the thermal and mechanical analysis of fuel rods in nuclear reactors developed at ITU.

The primary goal of the new project will be to establish and to harmonise fuel rod licensing in the four candidate countries running Russian pressurised water reactors (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Bulgaria). Direct co-operation between these countries will be strongly encouraged.
