Guide to British solar energy

A Napier University research team led by Tariq Muneer, reader in energy engineering, is providing energy-conscious architects and engineers with a guide to the amount of solar energy different parts of the country receive. Team members have recently won an award from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers for work on solar radiation modelling. Their findings on determining the amount of energy from the sun in any part of the UK are the basis for the new CIBSE design guide, Solar and Weather Data, which will help the design of energy efficient buildings.
