An Internet-based press centre for European science, engineering and technology was launched this week by Lord Sainsbury, the science minister. At the British Association's Festival of Science, Lord Sainsbury said AlphaGalileo would be a "one-stop shop" for news on European research.
Now in its pilot phase, it will expand in 2000 to include coverage in French, German and Italian. The service, managed jointly by the research councils and BA, is free to contributors and journalists. For more information visit www.alphagalileo.org
