There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that the Association of University Teachers is secretly thrilled by the government's refusal to waive fourth-year tuition fees for non-Scots who opt to do a Scottish honours degree. Nobody is down in the AUT cellars looking out 20-year-old placards with the catchy slogan "Rectify the Anomaly".
