Glasgow Caledonian University, under investigation following allegations of mismanagement, seems set to drop in at least one league table. Its former principal, Stan Mason, who has just been fired for gross misconduct, was Scotland's highest paid principal, with a salary of more than Pounds 123,000 in 1995-96, but the vacant post has just been advertised in The THES at Pounds 90,000.
