The World Universities Network has begun its first exchange programme, with 50 young researchers from UK and US universities crossing the Atlantic. These initial exchanges will last several months but joint doctoral plans are expected in future.
The WUN comprises six UK universities (Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Southampton and York) and five US institutions. The network aims to share learning materials and has named climatology, bioinformatics and nanotechnology as priority subjects.
