The standstill on work to reduce the tilt on the leaning tower of Pisa has led to the order that only three of the tower's seven bells be rung on Sundays and public holidays. Project coordinator Michele Jamiolkowski, professor of geodetics at Turin Polytechnic, said the situation was "tragi-comic".
