The Azores University has banned initiation rites for new students. Freshers at Terra Cha campus on Terceira island have complained of being forced to watch porn videos, drink large quantities of alcohol, do older student's housework, and being dumped five kilometres out of town at night. The practices are common to many Portuguese universities.
