The Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings for 2009 will be published here at 00.01 on Thursday 8 October

Will anyone be able to topple Harvard from the top spot? Has Cambridge still got the edge over Oxford? Can any nation break through the UK-US dominance of the top 10? The complete list of 200 universities, with full analysis of and commentary on the results, will be published here and in print.

Also look out for our subject tables – giving the top 50 institutions in five areas: engineering and information technology; life sciences and biomedicine; natural sciences; social sciences; and arts and humanities – all with full analysis and commentary.
