The institute for environmental studies at Amsterdam's Free University and the University of East Anglia, at the invitation of the Commission, are jointly organising a workshop on European costal zone management, to take place from 2 to 5 June in Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands.
Costal zone managers, policy makers and researchers will come together to discuss the future of Europe's coastlines and identify priorities for research. Their discussions will be based on the results of the EU research cluster ELOISE.
An important feature of the workshop is the mix of disciplines and stakeholders represented. Ecologists, chemists, engineers, economists and social scientists will interact with NGOs, policy makers, and managers. The event will result in the publication of a book setting out the future direction of European costal zone management.
