A European workshop on heavy metal contaminated marine sediments will take place in Bremen, Germany, from 13 to 14 October.
The aim of the workshop is to bring scientists and stakeholders from government and port agencies together to discuss the results of the European project TREAD (transport, reactions and dynamics of heavy metals in contaminated marine sediments), a project funded by the 'energy, environment and sustainable development' programme of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5).
The following topics will be covered in four sessions:
- treating of contaminated sediments;
- processes in contaminated sediments;
- monitoring and measurements;
- modelling marine sediments.
