The percentage of women in Scottish higher education has risen in the past ten years, the Scottish Executive has said. In 1989-90, 44 per cent of students were female. This rose to 55 per cent by 2000-01. Although most students are still under 25, the proportion 30 and over has risen from 28 per cent in 1995-96 to 33 per cent in 2000-01.
