Brussels, Oct 2003
A European conference entitled 'women in science: mainstreaming gender equality in the European Research Area [ERA]' will take place on 3 December, in Rome, Italy.
The main purpose of the conference is to foster policy debate at national, cross-national and European level on issues relating to gender equality in research.
Participants will be asked to analyse and compare current statistics on the presence of women in science, and to discuss the role of women researchers.
At the end of the conference, it is expected that a conclusive paper identifying key issues and policies, best practice and new tools will be drawn up and adopted by participants.
