Why wait?

Rumour has it that Queuing Societies have been formed at some universities, with the sole purpose of forming queues that do not actually have any purpose. The devious members start queues and then quietly slip away after hapless freshers have joined the tail. Perhaps these societies could start their queues next to the lines of academics who have been made redundant, or even employ the academics whom students are fated never to meet to start them off.
