Stand by to welcome the new chief executive of the Quality Assurance Agency, due to be announced next week.

Will it be Peter Williams, the man who invented the audit and is currently acting chief executive? Or Anthony McClaran, deputy chief executive of the Cheltenham-based Universities and Colleges Admissions Service?
