The Wellcome Trust is close to striking a deal with South Cambridgeshire District Council that would allow it to expand its genome research centre.
Planning application for a 40,000m2, Pounds 100 million expansion of its genome campus was rejected by the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions last August but the door was left open for a bid for up 24,000m2. Sources say the trust could be offered up to 30,000m2 and allowed to accommodate private research teams.
