Dundee biocentre reaches £100m milestone
Dundee University's school of life sciences has reached a milestone of more than £100 million in external research grants, five years after its pioneering Wellcome Trust Biocentre was launched. The school researches the causes of a range of diseases, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and stroke.

Companies told to do more for older employees
Business analysts today called for companies to come up with "more imaginative options" such as part-time working, job shares or sabbaticals to help keep professionals and managers in their jobs as they get older. Lorna McKee, of Aberdeen University Business School, who has carried out a study into older male oil and gas industry workers' attitudes to their jobs and early retirement, said the issue of how older employees work in all sectors needed addressing.

Prince opens new building at Islamic education centre
The Prince of Wales is today visiting a leading Islamic education centre to officially open its latest phase of development. A new building will be opened at the institute, which has been actively involved in developing and promoting a better understanding of Islam in the west.
