Partners or children of serving Gurkhas and other Commonwealth Service personnel will pay reduced tuition fees at the University of Winchester from September. Dependants of the Nepalese servicemen will pay £3,145, the same fee as UK students, instead of international fees of £7,549, providing they have been resident in the UK for at least five years. Tommy Geddes, pro vice-chancellor, said: "We feel it's important for the university to acknowledge the commitment and loyal service the Gurkha soldiers have demonstrated over the past 200 years."
