University of Teesside - Call for soccer widows

As the football season kicks off, a researcher at the University of Teesside is gearing up for a busy season. Sports studies lecturer Kevin Dixon wants to hear from so-called "football widows or widowers" - people of either gender anywhere in the UK who feel sidelined by a partner's, friend's or relative's love of the "beautiful game". Dr Dixon's latest survey, which he says takes just five minutes to complete, is online at He plans to publish his research in the journal Soccer in Society.
