As the football season kicks off, a researcher at the University of Teesside is gearing up for a busy season. Sports studies lecturer Kevin Dixon wants to hear from so-called "football widows or widowers" - people of either gender anywhere in the UK who feel sidelined by a partner's, friend's or relative's love of the "beautiful game". Dr Dixon's latest survey, which he says takes just five minutes to complete, is online at http://football.tees.ac.uk. He plans to publish his research in the journal Soccer in Society.
