A university held an online admissions day for prospective students in what it claims is a first for the sector. The University of Sussex's School of Informatics broadcast a live one-hour programme on a dedicated website in a bid to reach overseas applicants and others unable to visit the campus. Phil Watten, media technology manager at Sussex, who organised the event with colleague Paul Newbury, said he drew on modern production techniques to create an experience more akin to a television show than a "webinar" or online forum.
