A consortium including the University of Manchester has been named "recommended bidder" to run the UK National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL). The NNL, which will bring together the Government's nuclear research capabilities, aims to become an international centre of excellence in research designed to help clean up nuclear waste and contribute to the development of new nuclear power plants.
