University of East London - A gift to develop genius

Nine year-old piano prodigy Marc Yu gave a concert at the University of East London to celebrate his acceptance of the first ever Genius Scholarship Award, a new annual prize established by the university's SMARTlab Digital Media Institute. Lizbeth Goodman, the institute's director, has been appointed head of the award's judging and mentorship panel and will mentor the boy over the coming year. She said: "Marc is truly a 'born genius' - he began playing at the age of two and can now perform more than 40 classical pieces from memory, with enormous energy and skill."
