Undergraduates at a London university will be offered a £1,000 discount on tuition fees if they stay on to study a taught masters. University College London said the measure was the first in a series being developed to help students during the economic downturn. Malcolm Grant, president and provost of UCL, said: "We're concerned that students graduating in the summer will face one of the bleakest employment markets in decades. We wish to support our graduates' future development under these challenging circumstances and to encourage them to undertake further education and training." The offer is being made to UCL students who graduate this year.
