Universities and the private sector

Universities should extend links with the private sector, particularly in offering degrees via the web, Baroness Blackstone also said.

She cited the success of the London School of Economics, which has linked up with four United States universities to form a company offering MBAs by internet-based distance learning. The company, Unext, is seeking degree-awarding powers in the US.
